What is Precision Surface Mining?
Precision surface mining means working close to water tables, infrastructure and populated areas where drill-and-blast can’t go. Mine the thinnest seams and those with multiple mineralisations without mixing chemistries. Independent mining, loading and transport means flexibility to match your mine operations and existing equipment. Cut smooth access and haul roads and level pads for hard stands and infrastructure, with reduced tyre damage.
How are Surface Miners Used in Civil Applications?
Surface excavation in civil applications such as roads, tunnels and site levelling means less reliance on rock breakers and other traditional techniques, smooth floors, consistently sized spoil that is easier to handle, and faster excavation rates.

Surface Miner On-board Dust Suppression System by Vermeer
Vermeer’s range of T1255 Terrain Leveler™ Surface Miners are compatible with the On-board Dust Suppression System by Vermeer. This additional feature is a must-have for all hard-rock and tunnelling job sites as it increases productivity and reduces overhead costs. This new on-board technology eliminated the need for a separate trail-behind dusts system unit.
The On-board Dust Suppression System by Vermeer is hydraulically driven and features and left and right unit, which become part of the machine. This reduces the need for an external power source or operator which in turn reduces the amount of diesel consumption, emissions and labour costs.
The On-board Dust Suppression System by Vermeer uses a baghouse filtration system which requires minimal maintenance which will save time and costs.
The superior manoeuvrability of the feature means you can continue to work in confined or closed-in spaces. The On-board Dust Suppression System by Vermeer is also compatible with the T1255 Chain Drive Surface Miners which means you can use this system while cutting high walls.
